Mark Turner says: “I had the pleasure of working with Lux Events on pulling off the most up-scale exclusive gala event of the year. Molly made life so much easier on the day of the event; everything ran so smoothly. She was able to create a decor that was so glamourous and exactly what we wanted. What a night!”
CONCEPT
The name: “The Red & Black Affair” came from the fact that Saskatoon Opera and Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra had never collaborated on a fundraiser in the past – so why not have an affair? We kept it high-end from start to finish and were rewarded by hearing many times over that it was “the best gala of the season”.

Megan Paur says: “The cake designers had beautiful cakes on display, and were showing off their skills doing live decorating. There was a big turnout of spectators, and of course super yummy cupcakes to be enjoyed! What a great event!”
CONCEPT
Lyssa Dixon of W&W Weddings approached me with the idea of hosting a cake decorating show for Saskatoon. There is certainly a craze out there from TLC shows such as Cake Boss, Ultimate Cake Off and Ace of Cakes and the market is turning cake decorating into pure entertainment. In Saskatoon, there is nothing like this and so we decided to put on a cake show ourselves. We signed up 3 cake artists and invited the people of Saskatoon down to the Saskatoon Inn hotel for an afternoon of tastings and demonstrations.

Ebani Timmerman says “I have attended the high tea two years in a row now and really look forward to next year’s event. It is so much fun to get dressed up for a ‘proper’ formal tea. For a good cause.”
CONCEPT
Heather Fritz of Heather Fritz Photography approached Marla from SightForStyle Designs and myself to put on a real High Tea for the ladies of Saskatoon. We donated our time and skills to put on this High Tea as a fundraiser for cancer research. It was unbelievably well received.

Crystal Skrupski says “I worked with Molly at Lux Events on a baby shower for my friend’s first baby girl. She helped me plan it from beginning to end and had amazingly creative ideas. From the layout of the rooms, to decorations, and even guest favours, she helped me create an event that exceeded all expectations.”
CONCEPT
We used Crystal’s tutu collection as a jumping off point for the inspiration for the shower. We wanted the shower to have a slightly vintage feel, so we brought in some photography props for decor. We used old suitcases and trunks to hold the gifts, cutlery and plates. We also used old mason jars to hold flowers and used lace for the tablecloths.
