The Red & Black Affair
CLIENT: Saskatoon Opera & Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra
DATE OF EVENT: March 3, 2012
OBJECTIVE: To create a high profile gala that offered a world-class opera performance and to generate fundraising revenues for Saskatoon Opera and Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. It was an evening to inspire the growing corporate world of Saskatoon to invest in creativity. We brought in Richard Margison who is considered to be one of the greatest tenors of all time. In addition to this entertainment, we had a silent and live auction of original art.
CHALLENGE: To not only put on a successful event with extremely high expectations, but to get some of the most influential and powerful people in Saskatoon on the guest list!
VENUE: The Adam Ballroom, Delta Bessborough

“What a night!” – Mark Turner, co-chair of the Red and Black Affair
Mark Turner says: “I had the pleasure of working with Lux Events on pulling off the most up-scale exclusive gala event of the year. Molly made life so much easier on the day of the event; everything ran so smoothly. She was able to create a decor that was so glamourous and exactly what we wanted. What a night!”
The name: “The Red & Black Affair” came from the fact that Saskatoon Opera and Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra had never collaborated on a fundraiser in the past – so why not have an affair? We kept it high-end from start to finish and were rewarded by hearing many times over that it was “the best gala of the season”.
